Colon Cancer

Colon Cancer is the 2nd most common cause of cancer death in the USA. It is quite curable and treatable when detected early. Poor bowel movements or obstruction are indicators of a bad prognosis. Surgery is the most frequent treatment and helps 50% of patients. Many times, the cancer comes back and this is the leading cause of death in colon cancer. There are 2 main characteristics that determine the stage of colon cancer you are at:

1. The amount of tumor penetration through the bowel wall

2. The presence or absence of nodal involvement.
