Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men in the United States (other than skin cancer). The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has written this booklet to help patients with prostate cancer and their families and friends better understand this disease. We hope others will read it as well to learn more about prostate cancer.

This booklet discusses symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment. It also has information to help patients cope with prostate cancer.

• The Prostate Cancer InfoLink - This site has won numerous awards and offers an excellent starting point for patients and their families. However, it may not be continuously edited. The "What's Hot" area, for example, does not include several important advances made in 1998. In addition the Trials page is terrible out of date. However under "What's Hot" is "Ask Arthur" and this is up to date on a daily basis as questions are asked of Arthur.
• Prostate Cancer News and Literature- Ablin Foundation - This page provides a convenient list of medical information sources pertaining to prostate cancer, PSA, and cryosurgery. The strength is that searches of news sources and of Medline are pre-configured to search for current news and literature about prostate cancer and cryosurgery.

This is one of the better sites for prostate cancer on the internet. Lots of informaion and links to other sites.
