common is it?
There has only been three main reported outbreaks around the world. The first two
were in Zaire and in
Sudan in 1976. There was 550 cases and 340 deaths reported. The third happened in
Sudan in 1976. It was smaller resulting with 34 cases and 22 deaths. The Ebola virus is
not common. Especially in countries with good medical supplies and good medical
pollicies. The cause of these outbreaks was due to the reuse of needles.
World Distribution:
The
distribution is mainly in Central Africa and do not appear to spread much further. The
countries where the Ebola virus is active are Zaire, Sudan, Gabon, Nigeria, Liberia,
Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Kenya. The virus has been located in some places in Europe, Asia
and even Texas.
